I was informed that I was no longer needed

When I became pregnant with my first born I was working within one of the largest county councils in the country. I had been there for over a year on a long term contract and my manager was in the final stages of sorting out a full time contract for me to sign with HR. Because I began to show I let my manager know that I was pregnant the day before we were scheduled to sign everything off and told her my due date… Instead of having a meeting to sign, I was met with a letter stating I would no longer be required past a certain date – meaning I missed being given maternity pay by 24 hours. It had all been worked out to a tee…
not only did I not have a job to go back to but felt I didn’t have the maternity pay that would ease the transition at the time.
She was a childless female in a very male dominated environment. She has since done this to three other females and has said openly that motherhood and work life should not be a choice women have to make, so she makes the “choice” for them…
