Many women have been refused part time for no real reason at all, other than management wanting to push them out

In the teaching profession I have experience and witnessed discrimination. I worked full-time and requested to work 4 days per week after maternity leave which luckily school agreed to. I did this as I wanted to keep my responsibility, which I held prior to maternity. However, in many schools even though you carry out all of the same duties as you did full-time, you get paid for your responsibility on a pro-rata basis. This is even when working on days off and replying to emails. Many women have been refused part time for no real reason at all, other than management wanting to push them out, hoping they will seek other employment. I believe I have been passed over for many opportunities and even were told, you won’t have time for this responsibility or you might need to take time off. People treat you differently. It’s as if all of a sudden you have lost all the skills you had before.
I have never brought this up at work, as there have been so many incidents with other people. I’m really glad that you set up this website to raise awareness.
