I’m so pleased this organisation exists as I think this country is so poor at supporting women having children. I’m a teacher of international students at university level and I cannot believe how bad my organisation is. There is a constant and over-whelming sense from management that by having children must mean I don’t want to move forward in my career. I have just passed a practical teaching masters level with distinction (so they know I’m good) but there is no flexibility allowed for working parents. I work 2 days a week and at the moment I actually couldn’t work more because of the lack of flexibility. This means we can’t afford to move house. How many people are in this situation? And how is this affecting the economy? Where is this in any of the political manifestos? No-where, because they are written by men who have the same opinion. We have a long way to go before we really have equal rights. Well done for starting this process.
