I have not had the confidence to work in a corporate environment since, despite, prior to my pregnancies, being a top rated high flyer

I just read about your website and had to tell my story. I was working for a global consultancy firm at a senior level. I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks with my first pregnancy. One day after the d&c and less than a week after being told the devastating news, I was called by the partner I worked for and put under pressure to attend a big pitch at a client (which I had done considerable preparation for over several weeks) the following day. I did not feel that this was possible as I was struggling with having lost a much wanted pregnancy – as a result I was told that I would lose the work and recognition to a colleague. After that I was given very few opportunities on the basis that I was clearly on the ‘pregnancy track’ and when I did fall pregnant again, I was excluded from client meetings (as it was not seen as a good commercial decision to take a pregnant woman to meetings) and given few opportunities. Returning from maternity leave, there was no role in the business given to me – it was very much an attitude of well legally we’ve got to have you back, but we don’t know what to do with part timers, you’re probably going to have another one soon anyway, so we will ignore you and hopefully you will go away…. I have not had the confidence to work in a corporate environment since, despite, prior to my pregnancies, being a top rated high flyer.
