I worked in the emergency services doing shift work, 4 days on, 4 days off. I wasn’t in an operational role at the time I became pregnant, but I was still under my three year probationary period and the organisation was restructuring. I was dismissed as I had breached the terms of my probation by becoming pregnant. I tried to take them to a tribunal but was advised it was now a different company as the name change had taken effect. I would call that discrimination. I had a split pelvis at 14 weeks and could barely walk the length of myself. I was in constant pain and fatigued and didn’t have the energy to fight. As it happens I’m glad I’m no longer there and now have a healthy baby but it shouldn’t have happened.
