I was made redundant with 2 other part-time mums. Everyone else who stayed working for the company was full time.

I was working full time for a well-known insurance broker and then returned to work part time after a period of maternity leave. I was effectively demoted into a lesser position on the premise that my old department was short of the work so I wasn’t really needed there. I assumed this was a temporary arrangement until the workload increased in my old department but when a position became free it was announced that it was given to someone else without even being offered the chance to apply for it. I was treated like the ‘part-timer’ and felt very excluded.

Then shortly after returning back to work following my second pregnancy I was made redundant with 2 other part-time mums. Everyone else who stayed working for the company was full time. I was not allowed to contact any of my old colleagues (& friends as I was offered a compromise agreement) so felt very isolated, very rejected & worried that people might think I’d done something underhand as they were told not to contact me. I was very depressed and felt rejected following this so just took the redundancy offered.
