I worked for a national charity and had been employed for 7 years in the same post. I had reduced my hours after my first child but when I was 5 months pregnant with my second child, I was told I was at risk of redundancy and went through a 4 week consultation process to be told at the end that there was now no more funding and they weren’t renewing my contract. I don’t think this would have come to the surface if I hadn’t been going off on maternity. I had no choice but to accept the redundancy then at my leaving party I was offered a lower paid job. It was disgraceful and extremely stressful especially as I was the only one being made redundant at the time.
