I was called into work a for a meeting a week before I was due to return from maternity leave (I had already arranged my return to work with my manager). The division was going through a restructure and in a pool of 10 (9 men and me) I was the only one under threat of redundancy. I was later told that I was the one person to go. I had been in the role for 10 years with excellent record. I later became aware that the decision was made by someone who had also done the same to other women in the same position as me (on maternity or about to return). It seems you can get away with discrimination because it’s covered up in the workplace and as others have said you are not interested in taking it further at a time when you are so busy with a one year old and looking for a new job.
