I had been working for a global firm which is dominant in my industry. I had been working there for three and a half years and I knew I was well regarded because I had been promoted twice, and unusually quickly. Within an hour of informing my employer that I was pregnant I was taken aside and told:
‘you are never going to have a career now that you have done this, so we think you should leave now’.
I was paid ‘redundancy’ in exchange for signing a compromise agreement. I later discovered that my colleagues were told that my sudden disappearance was because I had taken voluntary redundancy, and for legal reasons they should not make contact with me.
