We are recruiting for a freelance Business Development Manager

We are looking for a freelance Business Development Manager who will proactively generate new income streams for Pregnant Then Screwed. You will identify new business opportunities for the charity and build long term relationships. 

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 3 years experience in a sales or business development role, with demonstrable success examples
  • Have an understanding of (and passion for!) ending the motherhood penalty and making workplaces the best they can be for working parents
  • Be comfortable with commercial negotiation and relationship management
  • Be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment
  • Be self-driven, able to build and deliver their own business development pipeline

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Identify and secure sponsorship worth at least £10,000 by 1st September 2022 from brands who may be interested in partnering on Reset Festival, our online festival of mental health due to take place in September 2022 
  • Working in collaboration with our comms team, create a really impactful sales pack for Pregnant Then Screwed training opportunities that can be adapted to different clients and their requirements. The sales pack will generate 6 new qualified leads by October 2022 
  • Make recommendations and implement changes to current training packages that will improve outcomes for the client and increase sales 
  • Generate a turnover of at least £60k (with no more than £25k expenditure) from the Pregnant Then Screwed training programme by March 2023. 
  • Attend 2.5hr bi-monthly meetings with the Enterprise Development Fund
  • Attend weekly update meetings with the Head of Operations and the CEO 
  • Prepare client contracts for all client work secured and manage the relationship between the client, PTS and the trainer 

 

Introduction
Pregnant Then Screwed can offer bespoke training to companies as well as online digitised training to help employers make their workplace the best it can be for working parents. This includes training on the following: 

  • Design a pioneering maternity and paternity policy that caters to your organisation’s specific needs and has employee buy in 
  • Create and implement effective flexible working processes
  • Create a pioneering return to work process following parental leave
  • Trigger a culture shift within your organisation that will give employers and employees the tools, confidence and knowledge they need to ensure working parents feel valued and enabled to be the best they can be at work and at home. 

Pregnant Then Screwed has already launched their bespoke training programme and worked with employers such as Publicis and The Environment Agency. We are yet to launch our digital training package – ‘’Ready to Return’’ – which contains 4 online modules and workbooks to support parents in the workplace and their line managers. 

Pregnant Then Screwed currently works with two experts in HR and parental policy to deliver their training courses.

Further support: 

You will have a budget of £5k for marketing and sales. This can be spent on anything which will increase sales, and must be pre-agreed with the Head of Operations. This does not include travel and accommodation for the purposes of delivering your targets

You will be supported by the Pregnant Then Screwed team which includes:

Team members will make themselves available to you upon request to ensure this programme is a success. 

Additional support is provided to PTS by the Enterprise Development Fund who will provide peer to peer sessions and training throughout 2022.

You will need to have access to a laptop and mobile phone as well as suitable home office space, and good wifi connectivity

 

Details:

Position- Freelance Business Development Manager

Duration of project- 10 months

Start date- 6th July 2022

End date- 15th March 2023

As this is a freelance contract you can work flexibly and remotely to fulfill the objectives of the role. However, we estimate this role will take approximately 50 days to complete and this will include: 

  • Onboarding, introduction to PTS, a review of PTS training packages and Reset festival (estimate this will take approximately 7 days)
  • Attending meetings with the funder and reporting to the funder on outcomes (estimate this will take approximately 2 days)
  • Meetings with the PTS team (estimate this will take approximately 2 days)
  • Creating sales packages for PTS training and Reset festival and adapting current programmes (estimate this will take approximately 4 days)
  • Sales of sponsorship and training packages (estimate this will take approximately 28 days)
  • Client management (estimate this will take approximately 7 days)

 

Payment Schedule

The value of this contract is £18,000 plus commission should you generate an income of more than £80,000 (with no more than £25,000 expenditure). The commission rate is 10% paid on all retained income generated for PTS over £55k. The maximum commission fee paid is £5,000 for this contract. 

 

As long as all KPIs are achieved, payment will be sent following an invoice on the following dates:

KPIs

  • Set out strategy and timeline for delivery of target income 
  • Prepare template documents for client presentations, proposals and contracts. Approved by the Head of Operations and CEO
  • Make recommendations to the PTS Head of Operations on adaptations to current training packages that will improve outcomes for the client and increase sales 
  • Develop impactful sales pack for Pregnant Then Screwed training opportunities that can be adapted to different clients and their requirements 
  • Market the existing online training programmes to 10 researched companies and through relevant B2B channels securing at least 1 new client.
  • Secure at least £5,000 of sponsorship for Reset festival 
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings with the PTS team 
  • Attend at least one meeting with the funder

 

18th November2022

Payment – £6,000 

KPIs 

  • Secure 5 new businesses to purchase either online training or bespoke training packages
  • Secure at least £5k of sponsorship for Reset festival 
  • Implement changes to PTS training packages 
  • Attend at least one meeting with the funder
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings with the PTS team 

 

20th January 2022 

Payment – £4,000

KPIs  

  • Provided relevant information and data to feed back to funders, Enterprise Development Fund, to support future engagement. 
  • Develop a client feedback process, to support implementing necessary changes for future work.
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings with the PTS team 
  • Attend at least one meeting with the funder

 

15th March 2022 

Payment – £3,000 (plus any commission generated)

KPIs  

  • Secure 3 new businesses to purchase either online training or bespoke training packages
  • Achieve £55k profit from sales of PTS training 
  • Researched, identified and documented future areas for PTS training to grow
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings with the PTS team 
  • Attend at least one meeting with the funder

 

Person Specification 

  • At least 3 years business development or sales experience in the UK
  • Demonstrable experience of selling training or other related products to businesses 
  • A network that includes HR professionals and senior management
  • Excellent organisation skills, with experience of working with multiple stakeholders simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to generate revenue and understand budgets

 

Desirable

  • Experience of designing online and offline training programmes

Further detail:
Development of the PTS training programme will be closely monitored by the Head of Operations against fixed KPIs. The Head of Operations and freelance Business Development Manager will have a catch up every 2 weeks to understand where, if any, there are deviations from the agreed plan of work. 

Engagement related expenses
PTS will reimburse the Freelance Business Development Manager costs for travel and attendance to relevant B2B events as long as these are agreed by the Head of Operations. 

Professional services agreement
Once your contract has ended, Pregnant Then Screwed will continue to own all of the training programmes, business contacts and content associated with PTS Training.
