How our legal advice line works

The PTS Legal Advice Service is staffed by the brilliant employment law team at Primas Law and led by Danielle Ayres. If you feel you are being or have been discriminated against, here’s what you should do:

  1. Call the Pregnant Then Screwed Helpline on 0161 2229879. This line is staffed by specially trained HR advisors – not solicitors. These advisors are qualified to deal with most queries, however, they are not able to provide legal advice. If they believe that you need legal advice, they will arrange for you to have an appointment with an employment solicitor.
  2. You will usually receive a call from Primas Law within one working day. This will be to arrange an appointment with a solicitor at a time that suits.
  3. Your consultation will usually take place within 3-4 working days, but may take longer depending on demand for the service.

What happens on the calls?

Your appointment is completely confidential, so you can ask anything. The average call takes about 20 minutes but you can have up to an hour of free advice from Primas Law. If you decide that you want to proceed with a case against your employer, there is no obligation on you to instruct Primas Law as your solicitor. You can use whichever solicitor you want.

If you decide to proceed with Primas Law, then this will be charged for and the costs will be explained in full before proceeding. Many callers simply need a second opinion or to know how to handle their situation at work.  If a lawyer is instructed then this has nothing to do with Pregnant Then Screwed. However, we do support women through an employment tribunal with our free mentor scheme.
