What is the March of the Mummies? 

March of the Mummies is a national protest organised by Pregnant Then Screwed which will take place in 11 regions across the UK on 29th October 2022. People will come together, in Halloween fancy dress, and march through the streets to demand recognition, respect and change for working mums, and dads. Protests will take place across the UK in: London, Manchester, Newcastle, Cardiff, Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham, Norwich, Exeter, Leeds, and Bristol. We are looking for volunteers to support the running of each march. 

 

Volunteer Coordinator (there will be 1 per region, we still need a Volunteer Coordinator for Manchester, if this sounds like you please contact the email address below stating which role and city you’d like to apply for)

• Creating & monitoring regional volunteer Whatsapp group (or similar) 
• Ensuring volunteers understand their roles & responsibilities
• Regularly reporting to PTS Event Coordinator 
• Communicating with volunteers throughout the event
• Welcoming attendees to the march & cultivating a supportive atmosphere
• Sharing volunteer evaluation forms after the event & encouraging feedback

 

Operations Coordinator (there will be 1 per region, we still need a Operations Coordinator for Exeter if this sounds like you please contact the email address below stating which role and city you’d like to apply for)

• Liaising with local council and police 
• Upholding licensing agreements, Health & Safety and risk assessment 
• Ensuring necessary equipment is available & in place 
• Welcoming & directing speakers/ special guests
• Regularly reporting to PTS Event Coordinator

 

Marketing Coordinator (there will be 1 per region, we still need a Marketing Coordinator for Manchester. If this sounds like you please contact the email address below stating which role and city you’d like to apply for)

• Researching & liaising with regional groups to share event information
• Creating a regional Facebook event page for the march and keeping it regularly updated 
• Collating photo & video content to be shared on social media 
• Regularly reporting to PTS Event Coordinator

 

Each volunteer will be supported by Willow Bowen from Pregnant Then Screwed HQ to ensure you have everything you need and to guide you through the process. Willow will hold monthly (weekly in October) calls with each location team at times that are convenient to you. 

 

Time commitment

The march will take place on 29th October 2022 so it is important that you are available on the 28th and 29th October. We expect each role to be approximately 6 days work between May and 29th October. 

 

Volunteer stewards (we still need stewards in every city. If this sounds like you please contact the email address below stating which role and city you’d like to apply for)

Volunteer stewards will be available on the day to ensure the event runs smoothly. Each region will require 10 stewards to be available from 10am – 1pm on Saturday 29th October.

Tasks will include:  

• Stewarding event, including directing attendees, providing key information
• Welcoming attendees to the march & cultivating a supportive atmosphere
• Regularly communicating with the Volunteer Coordinator throughout the march 

 

Volunteer first-aiders (we still need first aiders in every city. If this sounds like you please contact the email address below stating which role and city you’d like to apply for)

These roles are an incredible opportunity to support local mums to have their voice heard. You will meet new friends, and senior people within your local region, as well as linking up with the local press and working directly with the PTS team to make change happen.  All coordinators will be sent a free book, PTS badge and PTS postcard to say thank you.
