I was left with nothing after 10 years of service, just because I went on maternity leave

Whilst I was on maternity leave with a major broadcaster the department I headed up was reorganised and merged with another. Two new senior roles with 9 to 5 hours were created (previously we all worked shifts) and I was not informed or given the chance to apply for the new roles. When I requested flexible working on my return I was allocated shifts in another department, unsuited to my skills or position, which also finished at midnight! Meanwhile the contract for our whole service was won by another company and I was not kept informed at all. To the point that I didn’t know when the new company was taking over, or that all my colleagues were being boarded just to keep their jobs. I ended up resigning because I felt my situation was hopeless – I was just not wanted or valued. Almost all the other senior staff were made redundant with sizeable pay offs. I should at least have been entitled to this, but I was left with nothing after 10 years of service, just because I went on maternity leave.
