I’m 19, I was working in a care home, I told them I was expecting a baby and then a week later, my manager and the home owner called me in to the office and said they didn’t feel I was committed because I had 2 days off for very serious reasons. One was after doing a night shift I suffered a very severe migraine, I then couldn’t go in the next night. The second shift, I had tried to cover due to my granddad being severely ill, no one was willing to just help me out so I had to phone in sick. I needed to be with my family.
I had previously had issues with the workplace before and left and had 6 weeks off but then went back because I was suffering from depression.
At the age of 19, I was suffering from depression, finding out I was pregnant was such a hard thing to then feel bullied out of my job was not what I needed. I was told I either needed to hand in my notice or they would go to HR regarding a letter of termination, in my state of mind I just had to leave there and then. I couldn’t cope with being there anymore!
I’m now stuck with what to do, struggling to find a job which isn’t too demanding but also knowing that it isn’t for the long term as I would then be off on maternity leave. I’m just lucky I have a very supportive partner and family around me!
