My boss mentioned my pregnancy in her termination email

I used to be a dual Licensed Massage Therapist and Licensed Esthetician at a Forbes 5 Star Spa that was recently promoted before I left to relocate for my husband’s job. I found a job at a Med Spa that was going to be opening a new location in a few months. The owner wanted me to be the lead massage therapist and be the go-to person for any body treatments at the new location while I continued to learn more advanced esthetic techniques.

I had to disclose my pregnancy early for safety reasons and after that my training became more sporadic, I wasn’t allowed access to clients nor were clients notified about me. My hours got cut back even further the same day I disclosed my pregnancy restrictions. I was forced to redo trainings that I was previously tested out on, I was lead on that the paperwork for my massage license was submitted when it never was. The opening date kept moving back closer to my due date and the owner made up a vague reason to fire me after I brought up my lack of pay for 6 months yet in her termination email she directly refers to my pregnancy.

I had to do job searches for unemployment every week until my baby was born and I was never able to get a job because of the pregnancy. I haven’t been able to get a job in the beauty and wellness industry since I had to let my licenses expire. I am now a stay-at-home mom and know that I will never be able to get back to the career I loved and worked so hard to achieve.
