Of those that received bad news about their pregnancy, 77% were on their own

Pregnant Then Screwed conducted a survey with 7556 pregnant women and new mothers in January 2021 about their experiences in maternity care and found that:

Of those who said they received bad news about their pregnancy, 77% said they were on their own

Of those who had to stay in hospital for 2 days or more following the birth of their child, 77% said their partner could visit some of the time, 23% said their partner could not visit at all. No-one said their partner could visit for all of the time. Meanwhile 18% said they baby had been separated from them for some of the time and 6% said their baby had been separated from them for all of the time.

21% of pregnant women said that their partner had not been allowed to a single scan with them

53% said their partner had not been allowed to any antenatal appointments with them

6% had been told by their midwife that they may have to give birth alone

62% said maternity restrictions have had a negative impact on their mental health
