A letter of hope from Rachel

Every day, across the country, acts of hope and solidarity make the parenting juggle work.

A friend who picks up the kids so someone can make a job interview.
A colleague who speaks up when a pregnant coworker is treated unfairly.
A mum signing and sharing a petition for improved parental leave for the parents of the future.
Volunteers answering advice line calls where mums who need support are seen, understood and supported.

These, and so many other acts of hope and community, are at the heart of both everyday life and radical change.

At a time where it can feel like there’s more division than ever, these moments matter.
They remind us that change doesn’t just come from policies or headlines — it comes from people showing up for each other.

This week, Pregnant Then Screwed took part in A Million Acts of Hope, a national week of action celebrating care, solidarity and connection across the UK.

Acts of Hope at PTS

Our volunteer-run Advice Line continues to be a transformative source of support for mums and parents facing discrimination at work.

Previous mentees from our Employment Tribunal mentor programme are now returning as mentors themselves.

We’re working across politics to remind decision-makers that mums, parents and families deserve more support to survive — and thrive.

Data and testimony from our State of the Nation research is helping shape conversations around flexible working and parental rights.

Together we’re creating the UK’s biggest ever thank-you card, a collective message celebrating the people who keep showing up for one another, every single day. We reckon the Pregnant Then Screwed community could get the total number of signatures to 85,000 – what say you?

And if someone has shown up for you recently or you’ve seen a small act of kindness that stayed with you. We’d love to hear it 💛
