I became a mentor after experiencing pregnancy and maternity discrimination in 2020 and taking my case all the way to a successful employment tribunal. Navigating the legal process while caring for a young baby was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but winning my case was a turning point. It gave me back my confidence and a determination to make sure other women don’t feel as alone as I once did. I couldn’t have done it without the support of Pregnant then Screwed.
Since then, I’ve spoken publicly about my experience, including on BBC Woman’s Hour and in The Sunday Times, to raise awareness of the scale and impact of maternity discrimination. Sharing my story has helped me advocate for change, but it’s also shown me how many women are still fighting these battles in silence.
As a mentor, I offer calm and practical support to women facing discrimination. I know how overwhelming and disorientating this can be and I create a space where women feel heard, believed and supported to take the next step.
