Melanie
Hi, I’m Mel.
I’ve worked in health and social care for over 15 years and have spent much of my working life supporting people through challenging and often life-changing situations. What I enjoy most is building relationships and helping people feel heard, respected, and genuinely supported, particularly during times of uncertainty or change.
I completed a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management in 2017 while becoming a first-time parent. Balancing work, study, and family life gave me a real appreciation of the challenges many people face when trying to navigate employment, parenthood and competing responsibilities. Since then, raising my two wonderful and energetic children has only deepened that understanding.
Throughout my experiences, I’ve seen how overwhelming it can feel when you’re faced with difficult decisions or situations that affect your work, family life, or future. I’ve also learned that people are often far more capable of finding solutions than they realise when they have access to the right information, support, and space to think things through.
This is a big part of what drew me to volunteering with Pregnant Then Screwed. I am passionate about helping people understand their rights, explore their options, and feel empowered to make informed decisions that are right for them and their individual circumstances.
My role is not to tell people what they should do, but to listen, ask thoughtful questions, help them consider different perspectives, and support them in understanding the options available to them.
Above all, I hope to help people feel informed, supported, and empowered to make decisions that are right for them. By listening without judgement and exploring options together, I aim to help people navigate uncertainty with greater confidence and clarity.
