Hannah’s Story

I was told by my manager 2 months before going on maternity leave that he wanted to put me into the company talent pool for a promotion but because I was going on maternity leave he wasn’t allowed to do so. I went on maternity leave then returned to the same company. I came back at the same level but previously I had a team that I managed. Upon my return to work they have given me no team. I’m a manager with no team. I feel like I’ve gone from being in line for a promotion to a demotion. The company is now having a restructure and is looking at those in positions who don’t have the right span of control. Because I have no team, this is me. I’m now at risk of losing my job and it seems like this is because I had a baby.
